Alfhild “Alfie” Külper creates textile landscapes that transform spaces into sanctuaries of comfort and healing. Shaped by an Anthroposophic education that emphasized childlike wonder, she works from her Amsterdam studio transforming salvaged wool into what she lovingly calls her “fuzzy friends.”
Through traditional tufting and 3D embroidery, Alfie creates immersive environments that suggest moss-covered forest floors one moment, vast cosmic nebulae the next. Drawing from textile traditions spanning India, Nepal, and the Netherlands, her work creates spaces where comfort becomes tangible.

Light descends like captured stars through six feet of woven twilight, each knot a prayer made luminous. In corners where darkness once dwelled, blue memories dance, casting gentle shadows that remember the forest’s first dawn.
This commanding floor lamp emerges from traditional hand-knotting techniques that transform reclaimed wool into functional sculpture. Each knot represents hours of meditative work in Alfie’s studio, creating gentle pools of light that nurture both practical needs and emotional well-being.
